Lone Soldier Wedding
This past Thursday, the Lone Soldier Center had the honor of arranging and putting on an entire wedding for a lone soldier, and his lovely wife, herself also a new immigrant to Israel.
Musician Chaim Dovid generously opened up his roof for the Chupah ceremony, held overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem and the Western Wall, a spot so meaningful for Jews throughout the ages and particularly special to Yoni and Mira who left their families and friends behind to build their lives and a new home together in Israel.
The couple was escorted through the alleyways of the Old City by their guests, friends and a few family members, with song and dance to the Western Wall to say a special prayer and then to the hall where we enjoyed a beautiful dinner, drinks and more dancing.
Guests came from all over Israel – those serving with Yoni in the army, lone soldier friends and friends and volunteers from the Lone Soldier Center in memory of Michael Levin. The commander of the Miche Alon army base where Yoni serves as an officer spoke beautifully about the couple and praised them for their commitment to the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
It was truly a magnificent evening and we want to thank everyone who helped make this happen. Yoni and Mira want to thank all of the LSC's supporters and volunteers for coming together behind them to make their wedding a reality.
